[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34407] support bidirectional slide transitions according to previous/next moves

This would make it more consistent with MS Powerpoint which already has this!
(from ppt 2010)

See this quote from MS Forums:
I've created a presentation in PowerPoint with a 'Push Left' transition between
all slides.

This looks great - until you view it in Slide Show and hit the back button.
The transition remains as 'Push Left' although the slide content changes to the
previous content. As a user this is very confusing.

...

This is no longer necessary with PowerPoint 2010. All the transitions support
backward/forward appropriately.

Tested on:
fedora 18 32 bit - GNOME 3.6.2 - 4.0.1.0 LO
Windows 7 pro 32 bit - LO 4.0.0.3

comment:
Sounds like a very good idea to add this behavior to the transitions in LO. The
idea is similar to what happens in MS Office Power Point, and really gives
visual continuity to the presentation.

Moreover, in an actual presentation to quickly switch to a particular slide,
you can use the presenter console, or the new LibreOffice Impress remote. The
point is that if a slide that is after the current transition is displayed in
the normal sense, but if the slide is before the current slide, the transition
is displayed in reverse.

Description of the problem:
Add that currently inconsistent behavior occurs when moving forward or backward
a slide (with transition effect). When you move back a slide: ↑ or ← or PgUp
simply appears the previous slide. When using the contextual menu / previous
slide back, but showing the effect transition normal sense being inconsistent
and confusing.

To replicate:
1. Prepare a presentation with at least 3 slides (with the same transition
effect)
2. Try moving forward the presentation
3. now move backward presentation (with: ↑ or ← or PgUp)
4. Back to advance. Now go back to the context menu / previous (compare with 3)

Expected results:
Going forward (any method) is displayed normal transition when backward (any
method) is shown in the opposite transition.

Videos that illustrate the inconsistent behavior transitions

Take the test with similar transitions (cube effect) both in LO 4.0 (fedora)
and MS Office 2013 on the same computer.

zip archive videos:
1. move next / previous in Office 2013 (ideal behavior in LO)
2. move next / previous in LO 4.0 (sorry for the performance of transitions)
3. inconsistent behavior shows transitions in LO 4.0

thanks

Thanks for additional explanations
We speak here about slide transition, not about animation (my misunderstood)

Thanks for interesting idea. Let me add some small ideas to it:
1. Usually users want to quick scroll to some of previous slide. Effects in
this situation will only slow down this search.
2. Many effects is symmetric, so impossible understand direction.
3. Combinations of effect may be so complex that impossible something
understand at all (for example if presentation used as QUIZ)
4. in animation may used sound, animated GIF, video. What with them?

PS: in current slide we can go to previous animation using buttons with arrows

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it

changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2
prereleases.
