To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this

details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in

This appears to be connected to turning on "anti-aliasing" in Writer. 

I am experiencing this problem in Ubuntu (16.04) Linux under Version: 6.1.4.2.
If I disable "anti-aliasing" this problem goes away. 

I also tested this in Windows 10 under version 6.0.7.3 and Version: 6.0.6.2
(x64)
and DID NOT find this problem.

I think this may be fixed with version 5.4.2.  The scrolling seems smooth, and
I'm not seeing artifacts left by the page splits either.

Ok, I see that very brief pause when page breaks are encountered in LibO 4.4.5

however it doesn't seems to me a very important issue so I'm lowering priority
that pause is barely visible on my PC.

Opened attached sample file and hold pg dn all the way down, and it didn't go
straight down, it has pauses.
I then held pg up all the way up, and again, it didn't go straight.

Hi! Thanks for providing a test document. I cannot confirm this using
LibreOffice Writer Version: 4.1.1.2 on Ubuntu Linux 13.04 x64, but it could be
something to do with Windows. Putting this bug in UNCONFIRMED state for now.

I tested using two virtual machines, one with Linux Mint 14 and another with
Windows XP. Neither of these had the issue I described initially. I even
thought that LibreOffice running inside a VM could show the issue more
proeminently. Apparently, it's a issue that occurs only on Windows 7 and 8
(maybe Vista).

I can't confirm that with LO 4.0.5.2 (Win7 32bit), both 'Anti-aliasing' 
'Hardware acceleration' enabled. (perhaps there is a little bit lag in the page
break but I can't really feel that :))

Attached a sample document with some page breaks.
Notice that, when you reach the page breaks (indicated by a horizontal dashed
line), the scrolling appears sluggish.
Evidently, it is a somewhat subjective impression, and depends also on the
speed of the computer, but the effect is there (at least for me).

Confirmed on LibreOffice 4.1.0.4 on Windows 8 x64, running on a Core i7-3537U
w/ 8GB RAM.

I just realized that if you uncheck the Use Anti-Aliasing option in Tools 
Options  View, the problem apparently disappears, or at least it becomes
imperceptible (maybe not in a slower computer).

P.S. It's not a slow machine problem - many of us have much slower machines, if

I have 64 bit Windows 8, but I have 8Gb ram. That could be the problem, but I
can't say for sure. I also tested with Ubuntu 12.04 and experienced no issues.
I am going to reset the status to UNCONFIRMED for now.

Hi, I cannot confirm this. I tested using LibreOffice 4.0 and 4.1.0.0+alpha on
Windows 8. I created a new 8 page text document, and used Insert - Manual
Break to insert a page break between a few paragraphs. I scrolled up and down,
using the mouse and scroll bar. 

Do the documents you have issues with contain any graphics, tables, or other
elements? Are they much longer than 8 pages? If you have extra info, please
comment here, and change status back to Unconfirmed.

Hi, thank you for the reply. Maybe my computer is too slow, it is an Ultrabook
with a Sandy Brige Core i3 and 6Gb of RAM. Maybe it occurs only with Windows 7,
maybe only with the 64-bits version of Windows (maybe because LibreOffice is
compiled for 32-bits). But I tested both with a blank document (only with page
breaks) and with text and images, and in both cases the dashed line makes the
scrolling to be sluggish.
