FWIW, I also have a vertical dock on the left side of my laptop-only 1280x800
monitor setup.  However, I can't provoke the problem right now, every time I
try to start LibreOffice it starts nicely regardless of whether the dock is to
the left or the bottom.  Sorry, not very useful.

Both are 1930x1080. Dell E2414HR.

The only thing that might be unusual is my dock is vertical, on the left edge
of the left monitor.

Try changing your screens resolutions to lower and higher values (if supported)
and report back. I remember reading somewhere that we'd had a problem with
certain screen resolutions.

I'm getting a more or less identical crash since upgrading from MacOSX 10.8.X
(latest Snow Leopard) to 10.10.1 (latest El Capitan).  This on a five year old
MacBook Pro with a single screen.  Dock on the left.

The existing 4.4.3002 installation crashed, so I downloaded and installed
5.0.2002, which also crashed.  I did not try to start it several times in short
order.

I tried removing the old profile at this point, which didn't make any
difference so I restored it.

Next I uninstalled LibreOffice again, and purchased and installed the Collabora
version 4.4.10010 from Apple Store instead (so hey, the good thing here is that
I found actually purchase LibreOffice!)  This also crashed, the same way, but
then I found this bug and tried restarting LibreOffice as soon as it crashes,
and then it usually gets going after two or three attempts.

Crash dumps for the three versions are attached, although I doubt that they
provide much more information than the one already included in this thread.

Confirmed how ? For it to be confirmed someone from QA has to be able to
reproduce it. As yet, that is not the case.

Your Apple trace showed you are using OSX 10.10.3 - any reason why you haven't
updated your system to the latest 10.10 available ? (or even migrated to 10.11)
?

As I don't have a dual monitor setup, does the problem still exist with only 1
monitor attached ?

How do you launch the app ? From the first monitor, or the second monitor ? How
are your monitors set up to interact with OSX ?

I just upgraded to 10.10.5. It's better but not gone. It doesn't crash every
time before startup, but still crashes sometimes.

Also, I filed this against "base" because I thought "base" meant "base" not
"database", as "base" is what I thought "soffice" was.  It's not writer or
calc, it's the window that launches to launch writer or calc.

(though I would prefer being able to launch the other apps (writer, calc)
directly)

I have 2 1920x1080 monitors plugged in using a HDMI to LightingBolt cables.

The only "non-standard" option I have is in mission control "Displays have
separate spaces" is unchecked. If memory serves, it crashed even when this was
checked. The reason it is un checked is because sometimes I need very wide
iTerm2 windows. 

I'm not sure which is primary. My dock is on the left edge of the left monitor,
but the menu bar is on the right monitor. I have no idea how it got to be that

I launch it by clicking on the rocketship, typing lib, then clicking ont he
LibreOffice icon. 

I can look into upgrading, but I think that's a red herring.

You filed this against the Base (i.e. database module). Are you trying to
create or open a database file ?

If so, then you need JavaforOSX from Apple and Oracle's own JVM (latest is
Java8_u60).

Yeah, that was a total waste of time. Same crash.

Not only that, but apparently libreoffice 5.x also uses 4.x profiles? I did not
find a libueoffice/5/user folder, just libreoffice/4/user. I don't know if you
want to write that up as another bug?

Ok. I just wanted to make sure I executed the instructions. If 5 profiles were
somewhere else, it would not have been a valid test.


Can we get this 'confirmed' and on it's way to getting fixed?

It's not a bug, but a decision, so the upgrade would not break user
customizations.

Maybe you could try this:

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED
WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
