Resolution of the image is relative to its size in final document.
If original image is 7Mo and 300dpi for a 10x15cm size if I reduced its size to
5x7,5cm it becomes

Works here, meaning the lower image is not distorted after compression with a
resolution of 200 or 96 and bicubic interpolation.
