[Libreoffice-qa] LO 3.6.2 : about Manage dialog from Conditional Formatting

2012-09-25 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure
Hi all,

Now, the bottleneck fdo#54498 has been fixed for LO 3.6.2, it is a great
step toward making LO 3.6 usable for production !

So I think it's time for developers to consider the severe UX issue we
have with the Edit dialog from manage screen in Format - Conditional
Formatting - Manage.
The problem has been described in fdo#54774, fdo#54940, and on QA and
UX-advise mailing-list. We had very few answers and only one developer
(Markus) point of view. So I decided to ask on developers ML as it is a
developer problem.

To make the story short, I think it is crucial to make the Edit dialog
from Format CF Manage Button Edit to work exactly in the same way
as Format CF CF, regardless the constraints from using relative
references.
My main argument is here :
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice-qa/2012-September/002653.html

This Manage dialog is very important as it gives a summary of all CF
defined in the current sheet. It is a long waited function for all
peoples who are using CF in their spreadsheets. So a big thank you to
Markus for that. But now it is important to not give a bad user
experience with this new great function.

If nothing is possible, I think the better thing to do is to remove the
button Edit from the Manage dialog.

Best regards.
JBF, irritating QA people.

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Moztrap login CSRF issue fix - testing needed.

2012-09-25 Thread Pedro
Hi Yi

Yi Fan Jiang wrote
I thought the goal of this site was for reporting the results of a
 Regression Test.

Yes, it is exactly for regression test :)

When I logged in earlier today, the two tests I had Passed weren't showing
up. Now they are. I was confused about the goals :)

Yi Fan Jiang wrote
By default, a registered user without speical permission is a tester who
 can
view and run tests, but not modifying them.

Then the manage section shouldn't even show up for a regular user. It is
unnecessarily confusing.

I think that the language needs to be selected at login (and only the
selected language is used). All those translations for a test case are
confusing. The Pass Test button present only on the English translation is
also confusing.

The selection of the Environment is also confusing. The user should select
the Platform first (it is what he is most familiar with). What is Windows
(as opposed to Windows XP)? Windows7? Windows 7 or 8?

After the Platform is selected then the Architecture (not Archs) options
should change accordingly (e.g. under Windows there are only x86 and x64)

The last step should be the selection of the Locale. This is also confusing:
what does this refer to? The Windows Language, the Windows Regional Settings
or the Language used in the LibreOffice GUI?

I can be in Norway, using an English US Windows Laptop and have the
LibreOffice GUI in Portuguese while writing a paper in English UK... Which
Locale should I choose? :)

Is it really needed to test all those languages? If those work, then all
others work for sure?

I think that the idea for this tool was to have a user friendly interface
that would be attractive even for inexperienced users and currently it is
not that intuitive.
I'm sorry if I'm being too critical (but I'm also suggesting solutions, so I
think that helps...).

Regards,
Pedro

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] [TRIAGE] Weekly Update

2012-09-25 Thread Roman Eisele

Hi Joel --

Am 24.09.12 20:12, schrieb Joel Madero:

I am a bit concerned that our # of bugs from 2011 jumped a lot, I'm not
sure if there's a bug with FDO - before I think we had 11 bugs from
2011, now we have a lot more than that.

For some (but only for some!) of these “new” UNCONFIRMED bugs from 2011,
I am responsible. I have already explained this. A few days ago, I wrote
to the QA list:

While browsing all NEW bugs for Mac OS X, I have noticed quite some

bugs which [had] never been confirmed by anybody else besides the
original reporter. This also means that these issues [had] never been
reviewed, checked for completeness, duplicates etc., and therefore
I was determined to do my duty as a careful bug wrangler and to set
the Status field of these bugs back to UNCONFIRMED. :-(

Let me add that I referred here not to bugs which had already faced some
discussion, but only to “virgin” bug reports who had never received any
attention by bug wranglers or developers, and which therefore just slept
in the database, hidden by the warm blanket of status NEW (and probably,
given the huge number of bugs, would have slept there forever!).

Setting their status back to UNCONFIRMED has the advantage that sooner
or later some bug wrangler will stumble over these reports and do what
is necessary to do, and then (if they are still reproducible and
important) will CC the developer(s) about them.

Of course, I will try to re-visit and test these bugs myself, I just
can’t do everything at once ;-)

Best regards,

Roman

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Closing FIXED bugs

2012-09-25 Thread Andras Timar
Hi,

2012/9/25 Richard richard.h...@gmail.com:
 Then our criteria are misplaced?
 If bugs are not to be CLOSED but only RESOLVED;
then we need to change our search and triage methods?

The fact is that there are 4628 RESOLVED LibreOffice bugs in Bugzilla.
IMHO QA manpower could be used better, than to check and close these
bugs, not to mention the annoying bugmail flood. Maybe it does not
look nice from the theoretical point of view.

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Call for Hard Hacks

Hi Joel

First, thank you for handling this initiative. I really appreciate your
work on QA for LibreOffice.

Please consider fdo#53673 as hardhack

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53673

Our labels creation system and mail merge needs assistance from a Writer
skilled developer. So far, Winfried Donkers and I have not yet found a
way to clearly isolate the issue, if in mail merge, page rendering or
label creation routine. The only result is that the label+mailmerg
tandem is broken or unreliable at best.

Thank you

Olivier

 c) could make LibO look really bad

Please send me the FDO# by Wed. so I can get the list together for Thursday.

[Libreoffice-qa] [ANNOUNCE] libreoffice-3.6.2.2 tag created

2012-09-25 Thread Fridrich Strba
Hi,

there have been created the libreoffice-3.6.2.2 tag (aka rc2). The
corresponding official builds will be available within next few days.

See the attached list of changes against 3.6.2.1[*].

Now, you might switch your current 3-6 or 3-6-2 source tree to it using:

./g fetch --tags
./g checkout -b tag-libreoffice-3.6.2.2 libreoffice-3.6.2.2

Linux distro packages might find source tarballs at
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/
They will be available from the official page together with the builds.

See also the schedule at
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan#3.6_release
and release criteria at http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Release_Criteria

[*] The list contains fixes from 3.6.2.1. It is created using
libreoffice/core/bin/lo-commit-stat. It parses output from git log and
does not match cherry-picked commits. We might get better results with
'git cherry' or another approach. Feel free to send patches :-)

Petr

2012-09-25 Thread Bjoern Michaelsen
Hi,

as already announced by Joel, the QA call has been postponed to tomorrow
1300UTC.

Here is the prototype agenda:

pending action items:
   - merge 3.5 and 3.6 in one big bibisect repo (Bjoern)
   - recheck and tweak bibisect details (Bjoern)
   - Ping cloph if we can make that switchable to say Bug instead of
 EasyHack when explcitly requested (Bjoern)
   - new Bug Hunting Sessions (Cor)

structured manual testing (Yifan/Petr):
   - login issue progress?
   - other news?
   - whats the timeline? can we have this productive for the next major release?

bug wrangling (Rainer):
   - postmortem for previous hardhacks
   - new hardhacks selection
   - triaging project (Joel)
   - bugzilla stats and news
   - bugzilla contract updates?
   - bug prioritization, can we start for real (continue)?

http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Libreoffice-qa-Bugs-prioritization-missing-pieces-td4002450.html

community building/communication (Joel/Florian?)
   - QA Wochenende in Essen next weekend
 - who will join?
 - who will join remotely via IRC/Skype/whatever (anyone preparing for that
at LinuxHotel?)
 - better mission statement for QA: proposals?
