I really cant make it to FOSDEM this year, so somebody else needs to step in.
And Markus is right: FOSDEM is quite cool!

Bjoern is right - so pls come all :-)

Oh, by the way: probably I will too.
However, am not so on track with all recent QA improvements and have
close to zero spare time this month.
So if someone else has the opportunity to do it, or to do it with me in
cooperation, that would definitely be the better choice :-)

Cheers,

[Libreoffice-qa] Volunteer for QA talk at FOSDEM needed

2013-01-07 Thread Markus Mohrhard
Hey guys,

the QA talk at FOSDEm still needs a volunteer. It would be great if
one of you would be able to give this presentation. It will be on
Sunday morning in the Libreoffice dev-room.

Please consult https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/Events/Fosdem2013
for more information. The talk is also listed there without a speaker
for now and we have to add the schedule to the FOSDEM system soon. It
is one of the coolest conference to present other people the great
work the QA team is doing and how much fun it is to participate.

Regards,
Markus

I have pushed this change to master and 4.0 branch:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=44cd995f02d2b46e5b0bfb3cbd743a366d4284f7
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?h=libreoffice-4-0&id=6be476c04c48ff081f595b28e1eb51c94e382bb6

Note that I used "LibreOffice" only for the release builds.

"LibO-Dev" is still used for daily builds and betas because I am not
brave enough to break uploading daily builds at this stage. Well, it
would be great to do it soon. Note that the fix for the tinderbox
scripts is already pushed, see
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/contrib/buildbot/commit/?id=fd17b6be133056f618a32964f216c73cd7af1906

Petr

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Test master or latest branch?

Hi Pedro,

I believe currently it is not a big difference whether you test Branch
4.0 or Master 4.1. The very most bugs you find in 4.1 will also be in
4.0, and any fix will be done in Master first.

Nevertheless, I recommend to focus un 4.0 branch, especially intensive
working with the pre releases. Although it's not a big difference, the
environment with the pre releases is some more realistic and more nearby
to the versions normal users will use.

Exception: Someone who is active en a muddled bug issue similar to that
what we had with the new Calc Conditional Formatting design. In this
case Master testing might be more effective because you will get the
builds with fixes more early (less reviewing time).

Best regards

[Libreoffice-qa] Test master or latest branch?

2013-01-07 Thread Pedro
Hi all

In theory running the latest master build should be the correct option for
someone doing QA.

Since fixes are added to master and then "cherry-picked" to the branches any
fixes added to master should be included in the branches (or so I
understand...)

However the updated information in the About box was added to the master (so
it works on4.1) but can not be cherry picked to version 4.0
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58034#c5)

This makes me wonder: does it make sense to keep running Master builds or
should QA focus on 4.0?

Cheers,
Pedro
