 Hi all,

For the consequences of the build switches, as I understand them, see
 below :

Generally, you can read configure.ac for the meaning of build
switches. It would eliminate the guesswork.

 --disable-lpsolve
This is the internal solver code

We use coinmp instead.

 --disable-neon
Not sure about this one, but possibly related to network file access ?

We use serf instead.

 --disable-python

This switch builds in python support. If it is not present, any and all
python-dependent functionality will fail to work - that includes
mailmerge, many of the wizards that were rewritten in python (e.g.
Fax/Letter template wizards), UNO programming via python,

Regarding Mailmerge, only the emailing script is in Python.

 --with-theme=tango

Bit surprised not to see the Breeze icon theme here - any particular
 reason ?

We plan to switch to Breeze.

 --without-java

Any and all Java required functionality will not work - this includes a
great deal of Base (embedded hsqldb, any and all JDBC driver
functionality, Oracle ReportWriter) any and all Java user extensions
that people might wish to install, and also some of the remaining
wizards that are still written in Java

One would hope that a suitably clear explanatory message is given when
the user tries to activate any such call to instantiate the JVM, or that
the app won't suddenly curl up and die.

AFAIK there are no more Java Wizards in LO 4.3. Why would the app
suddenly die without Java? It does not die.

 --without-myspell-dicts

I'm not sure what the extent of the effect of this is. My understanding
is that the hunspell/myspell dictionaries don't get built with this
switch and that by default the Apple spelling correction is used instead ?

Apple spell checking is used.

 --enable-ext-wiki-publisher
 --enable-report-builder
 --enable-ext-nlpsolver

See above - with these switches on, the corresponding extensions are
bundled - note that the report-builder extension requires Java,
otherwise it will fail miserably to load and provoke an error message
(or worse, the whole app will fail)

When you build --without-java, these switches have no effect.

 --enable-symbols

This is supposed to provide debugging symbols, although not quite sure
how that works without --enable-dbgutil, maybe I have an incomplete
 understanding

On the contrary, --enable-dbgutil cannot be used with --enable-symbols.

Andras

close, but I haven't had a chance to really delve into the details. As
we likely will start to see bugs showing up in Bugzilla, it might be
good for us to make some notes for QA, just so we can make sure that
reports get shuffled-over to the right people who can triage them and
 then fix them.

I don't actually know all of the differences, but for starters, it
appears to be built on 4.3.x branch from what I have read elsewhere. I
have no idea what other build switches are in there.

There are two products in the App Store.

1. LibreOffice-from-Collabora is based on LibreOffice 4.3. It is not
EOL, it is the supported product of Collabora. There are many
backported bugfixes and backported stable features in it, which are
not in the latest and EOLed TDF LibreOffice 4.3.7.

2. LibreOffice Vanilla is basically the same as TDF LibreOffice 4.4.4.

In the future the for-pay LibreOffice-from-Collabora will always be
from the same source as the LibreOffice-from-Collabora product, which
is offered for the enterprise. LibreOffice Vanilla will always be the
latest TDF Fresh build, so probably we'll switch to 5.0 after it is
released.

Two kinds of bugs I can image.

1. Specific to Collabora builds. Hopefully there will not be many. So
I think there is no need to set up rules with a great effort. At the
beginning there will be some (please cc me in bugzilla), because it is
a new platform after all.

2. Normal bugs, that people happen to find in App Store builds. No
special handling is needed, obviously.

Please find below the build configurations Collabora used:

see silly things, such as enabling java extensions, then disabling
java), but this is what I used to produce these App Store builds.

An easy way to do that would be to evaluate
 https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56904
which is Windows-specific, so I don't really have a clue how to do it
and what it entails, but I expect it is rather easy if one already
knows one's way around msi (Windows Installer) files and how we
 generate them.

Is it easy enough for EasyHack? Can you outline to the lucky winner
that will pick it up how to do it?

IMHO hacking MSI is not easy by any means. It's probably easy only for
an installer expert. I'd add the AccessDatabaseEngine.exe to a
CustomAction and call this CustomAction in the install sequence. It
may work. But why add a 25MB 3rd party package to LibreOffice, which
will benefit a tiny fraction of users? We don't even bundle Java,
which has a wider audience. I think it's enough to add a paragraph to
help, with the link to this MS download page.

 Hi All,

I just found out that this keyword bisected is being used. I'm curious
who is using it and what it is identifying. Also, I'm curious if we
shouldn't move whatever it is being used for to the whiteboard - having
2 bisect things being in whiteboard, and then 1 in keyword seems strange
to me. We have bibisectRequest and bibisected in whiteboard, then we
 have bisect in keyword.

A couple people have told me they use the keyword to indicate that the
exact (or nearly the exact) commit has been identified. If this is
true...it's good to have (and would be another potential easy hack to
move bibisected to bisected), but we need to share this information with
developers so that it's actually useful information. Else, if developers
are just querying for bibisected in whiteboard, they are going to miss
 bisected in keyword

I use the bisected keyword to indicate the *exact* commit that caused
the regression. For bibisected we use the whiteboard, because we
cannot add keywords on freedesktop, but in new TDF bugzilla instance
bibisected can be a keyword, too.

What is the bug number? Sometimes a fix was not backported, because

 branch libreoffice-4-3-2 have been created.
The branch will be used for fine tuning of the 4.3.2 release. (there
 is one additional RC planned)

 The following rules apply:

+ preferably just translation or blocker fixes
 + only cherry-picking from libreoffice-4-3 branch
+ 2 additional reviews needed; 2nd reviewer pushes
+ no regular merges back to anything

The 'libreoffice-4-3' branch is still active and will be used for the
4.3.3 bugfix release. Please read more at
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/4.3#4.3.2_release
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Branches
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Release_Criteria

Now, if you want to switch your clone to the branch, please do:

 ./g pull -r
 ./g checkout -b libreoffice-4-3-2 origin/libreoffice-4-3-2

 To checkout the tag, use

 ./g fetch --tags
 ./g checkout -b tag-libreoffice-4.3.2.1 libreoffice-4.3.2.1

Hopefully it will work for you :-) Most probably, you will also want to
do (if you haven't done it yet):

 git config --global push.default tracking

When you do git push with this, git will push only the branch you are
on; e.g. libreoffice-4-3-2 when you have switched to it. This will
save you some git shouting at you.

Linux distro packages might find source tarballs at
 http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/
They will soon be available from the official page together with the builds.

Attached is the list of changes against 4.3.1 RC2 (4.3.1 final)

Yes, fdo#59613 is reproducible in 4.2 builds. It is very easy to check
it, you don't need RTL operating system or RTL UI language. Just set
the SAL_RTL_ENABLED environment variable before staring libreoffice.

Windows: start cmd, the command prompt in the 'program' directory of

 set SAL_RTL_ENABLED=1
 soffice

Linux:
$ SAL_RTL_ENABLED=1 /path/to/libreoffice/program/soffice

You'll have an English RTL UI.

but it is possible to use alternatives. Examples include Zemberek

Korrektor (German), and LanguageTool (grammar checker for many
languages).

are the entries NX4eJ||Language Settings as well as Bshz7||
Language Settings. The first entry contains the usual Languages,
Writing Aids stuff and the last one English sentence checking

 Steps to reproduce:
 1. Install key-ID langpack (e.g.
 http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/deb/x86_64/LibreOfficeDev_4.2.0.0.beta1_Linux_x86-64_deb_langpack_qtz.tar.gz)

 LO: Version: 4.2.0.0.beta1 Build ID:

 OS: Debian Testing AMD64

I can reproduce. Usually, this page is the last entry of the Language
Settings section, I don't know if it's an issue with the KeyID build.

The two Language Settings get different KeyIDs, therefore
LibreOffice cannot merge them runtime. The same would happen, if you
translated the two Language Settings string differently. This is not
a bug.

Administrative installation just extracts the embedded CAB file onto

And other than adjusting the *UserInstallation=* location of the

administrative install? Or does it always remain 1033, en-US?

AFAIK default language selection happens at first start.

Couldn't LibreOffice program features and alternate languages be configured
and applied against the administrative install using a .MST transform file?
And how complicated would that have to be to end up with a usable alternate
installation--not needing to run the recast .MSI located in the
 administrative install's folder.

If I understand correctly, you would like to test custom
installations, where not all features are present, parallel. I don't
know, how to do that right. One option is to manually delete files
that belong to a given feature. I don't know how to manipulate
administrative images with MST files.

This might be a good workaround but it is not a solution... Do you mean it's
too late to fix this for 3.5.0?

Well, yes, it is very unlikely that it can be fixed today, providing
that it requires 3 review, and I still don't understand what the
problem is. I need a good bugreport first with steps how to reproduce
the issue.

Thanks,
Andras

2012-01-29 Thread Andras Timar
Hi Olivier,

2012/1/29 Olivier Hallot olivier.hal...@documentfoundation.org:
The installation dialogs are now in pt-BR, which is fine.

However, in a customized installation (where I removed tons of useless
dictionaries), the user interface of the first invokation is in English
 and not in pt-BR.

This is a serious issue and source of a tsunami of complains.

 Please advise.

Why don't you remove en-US language files from the install set, if you
don't need them? IS1033=0?

Best regards,
Andras

I uninstalled it sometime later and found all these leftovers

You use your Windows with an administrator account. It is not
recommended, however I know that many people do this. Therefore
LibreOffice can write into its own Program Files folder.

It is hard to remove files that were not installed by MSI. Not
impossible, but probably I won't spend time on that, because AFAIK
Windows 7 does not let this happen. I'm more interested in those
leftovers, if any, when you start LibreOffice with a non priviliged
user account.

Thanks,
Andras

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] [Libreoffice] Naming builds. Please???

2011-12-03 Thread Andras Timar
Hi Pedro,

2011/12/3 Pedro Lino pedl...@gmail.com:
 Hi all

This is my final request about this subject.

Can you please make some sense out of the version naming convention?

I was about to reinstall version 3.4.4 (after it was overwritten by
3.5.0 Beta0) and I already had an unpacked install folder on my
desktop. The only way I could verify that it was for 3.4.4 final, was
to run the installer and check what would be the name of the generated
folder. Since it had the same code (4eb10e5c) it was the same
 version...

LibreOffice 3.5 will not unpack anything to desktop. But we can't
change the past... :)

Another situation: I download a master build from a tinderbox. How do
I know the build included? How do I know if the source it was
generated from is newer or older than the one I already have? Easy.
Just install, open the About box and check if 4f11d0a-adcf6d5-c4bb9bd
is greater or smaller than 4f11d0a-adcf6d5-c4b29bd (just an example)

You can check what's included and what's not, when you visit
for example http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/?qt=rangeq=4f11d0a
Those magic numbers in About box are git commit IDs.

If the latest final version was named 3.4.4 and build was 402 couldn't
 it simple be named 3.3.4.402?

And this new version can't it be simply named 3.5.0.xxx???

And keep this code constant in the installer, the about box, the
 master builds, etc?

It is not possible to bump a build number each time a build is
produced, because many people produce builds, not only one central
build server.
Released betas and RCs of course come from a single source (i.e. TDF)
so you will see their version form their file names.

Best regards,
Andras
