[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92672] Copying and pasting a numbered list messes up numbering

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92672

--- Comment #3 from Torf documentfoundation@torf.cc ---
Joel, my main problem was that I didn't find a way to reset the numbering of
the pasted list (I needed two identical copies of the same list including the
same numbering, not a consecutive one).

In my opinion, CTRL+C, CTRL+V should give you two equal copies. Anything else
(e.g. features like copy without formatting or link pasted list with
original) should be an advanced option.

Thanks for the UX-advise, I'm looking forward to their opinion.

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92622] WRITER: context menu Unstyle the text from Styles Formatting

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92622

--- Comment #5 from Philippe Jung phil.j...@free.fr ---
I mean that LibreOffice is based on an additive set of styles:
one paragraph style
plus
one character style
plus
one list style

Double Clicking a style is the plus operation

If I am not mistaken the only negative operation is Clear all direct
formatting

So I would like negative operation for any kind of style to that we can change
the result without having to remove everything first.

= Maybe a no list ( = Default) to the list style + the same for character
style would be sufficient ?

I agree with your considerations about small screens, but I prefer the more
general solution I proposed: bug #33223. The idea is to have the possibility to
add toolbars inside the sidebar.

Best regards. JBF

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92686] FEATURE REQUEST: Better UI for keyboard bindings configuration (including two keybindings for the same action)

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92686

--- Comment #8 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl ---
Hi Jakub,

(In reply to Jakub Narębski from comment #7)

I have created *this* issue because of annoying behavior wrt. adding
duplicated keybinding to the same function. This is a separate issue, and I
can raise a separate (and quick to fix) bug report.

Yes please do.
Side note: applying two bindings for the same is easier when you first select
the function, without bothering the keys list, and after that selecting the
proper key by putting the focus in the list and pressing the desired key. But
hard to tell that in the current UI without real help text, I think.

There remains long term issue that needs a discussion about best UI for
assigning keybindings (for keyboard configuration), for example whether to
make it more similar to what MS Word 2007 does, or what Atom editor does.

I think there are great improvements in the page that Heiko pointed to. (Alas
there is still work to do, as far as I am aware, to solve the negative effect
of that re-design on customization of events).

Thanks so far!
Cor

Scrolling through the list of possible keybindings is tedious, compared to
MS Word / MS Office (and Atom editor) solution of just entering key we want
to assign (the advantage is that you see if it is free or not at first
 glance).

When the focus is in the list with keys, and you hit Ctrl+F, the focus
immediately jumpes to that key, showing the info you are looking for..

That would indeed a better UI. Is it OK for you to make this issue reflect just
that suggestion?

Or choose a different (default) style for
paragraphs/characters/graphics-frames/pages.

So I would like negative operation for any kind of style to that we can
change the result without having to remove everything first.

That only makes sense for list styles. All other types of styles have no
NULL-option, but fall back to the 'Default' style.

= Maybe a no list ( = Default) to the list style + the same for character
 style would be sufficient ?

I doubt about the sense for character styles.

However a solution could be, in the context menu for list styles, within the
Styles pane, the option 'no list style'. OK?
Alternatively, if list styles are selected, a button 'no list style' in the
tool bar ?

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92673] NEW TABLE FUNCTION: Split table Merge table

On the Table toolbar the associated .uno command and its dialog has never
been available to add as a Visible button, or as a user Customization.

They have ever been available for customization and still are available. Find
the commands Merge Table and Split Table in the category Table.

It is true, that they have no associated icon, but that applies to other
commands too. I see the issue as Worksforme.

Oops, right you are--they are there and can be added without issue, no icon. I
was looking for them as an unchecked command already on the tool bar, and
forgot to search the Add dialog.

Still with removal of split table from the context menu, wouldn't it make
sense to create a pair of Icons, and have them resident as checked (or
unchecked) tools on the Table toolbar?

I'm asking UX for input on this one.

FWIW - same behavior in 3.3 so setting the version to inherited from OOo

Also setting to:
Minor - slows down but does not prevent high quality work;
Low - default for minor bugs

@UX - this seems like a user preference issue and I can imagine others
disagreeing. I'll leave it in your capable hands to determine if we'll
implement this or if we'll close it as WONTFIX.

Thanks for reporting!

No I haven't. Thanks for pointing it. I especially like the fuzzy search idea
for functions and for groups / menus.

There are however a few issues that this blog post doesn't touch.

1.) There is no information anywhere that you can press a key combination to go
to it, to appropriate line in Shortcut keys - it should be in a label, or at
least in a hint.

2.) It doesn't touch the current difficulty of assigning second key to an
action.

3.) There is also an usability issue (that I forgot to mention) that clicking
'OK' instead of 'Modify' after selecting function looses all your work on the
last shortcut. Perhaps better solution would be to click Modify first, then
open a wizard to select a function...

4.) Ctrl-Alt vs AltGr issue, and inability to assign for example Ctrl-Alt-n or
Ctrl-Alt-Shift-N to any function when using Polish keyboard with ń and Ń.

I'm not a huge fan of adding more stuff to right click context menu - lots of
work has been done to minimize this menu as much as possible. That being said -
this is for UX to decide. Pushing to NEW and requesting input.
