One thing to look out for, I guess, is what licence is the journal released
under. It cc-by-sa 4.0 I think you will have the journal to back you up.

Normally code (and data) should be attached to paper. But in the past this has
not been done and only nice reviewers such as your self has asked for it. So
thank you.

You need help from software freedom conservancy. The lawyers. I just listened
to their podcast: 'free as in freedom' refering to the contract you sign on
joining mentioned in other responses.

Free as in Freedom: 0x5E: Conservancy's ContractPatch Initiative
http://faif.us/cast/2016/nov/01/0x5E/

There are links there to the audio oggcast and to the blog posts which might
be worth a read.

https://sfconservancy.org/blog/?tag=ContractPatch

It might be worth joining their mailing list as well.

Good luck.

I think it was high end and a small market within a small market. Other
projects normally have smaller rewards but due to the magnitude of the project
it was difficult to have rewards.

depends on the node you choose. AFAIK It is something that is sometimes
disabled due to increase of traffic and twitter changing API from time to time.

Don't know what they have now but they are going for the very expensive and
monopolistic smartboards. A whiteboard/touchscreen. I am doing what I can to
avoid it.
A quick search shows some hit and miss DIY replacements no profesional solution.

What do people feel about bounties? You want a feature? Pay for it. If not I'll
get to it when I can. Bugs might be a tricky one but over charging features can
compensate for bugs?

[libreplanet-discuss] Readability with gnu.org

2016-08-18 Thread amunizp
Dear all,
I was reading this page:
https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/right-to-read.es.html

Using fennec for Android (found in f-droid). The readability button us not
offered.
Is this meant to be?

in libre planet, for example, it does work.

I know it needs registration, but you could host your own git instance I
guess?

https://gitlab.com/

Just make a team with different branches?

Re: [libreplanet-discuss] Are proprietary software and science compatible?

2016-05-16 Thread amunizp
Dear all,
In case you have not seen fsfe and other's effort in EU with regards to climate
research. Others will hopefully follow.

As announced in this list here:
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/libreplanet-discuss/2015-10/msg5.html

The outcome is summarised here:
http://www.jpi-climate.eu/media/default.aspx/emma/org/10868118/JPI+Climate+symposium+on+Open+Knowledge_Final+Report.pdf

I am a scientist, but climate is not my field.

Re: [libreplanet-discuss] helping friends kill their facebook accounts

2016-04-28 Thread amunizp

>It is easy enough for somebody to take a backup of their Facebook

Yes facebook is easier than twitter, they need to tick the right boxes to make
sure it is not dormant. Skype is trickier, I don't know if I managed in the
end. Etsy plainly told me that they wouldn't.

>Is it better for people to go through their profile more vigorously

I tried that, but I ran out of patience. If I was doing big data analysis I'd
use it as an indicator that someone was leaving. So I would discard data
anyway. even if DoB or other was false from the start I bet there is clever
ways to pin it as outlyer.

>Should they do it all in one go, or stagger it over 2 - 3 months so
>that
>it is not so obvious that they were putting in false data before
>account
>deletion?
>

Tell close friends that you are leaving and why in private message would be
more effective so that people exchange contacts and keep in touch. Posting
messages on wall saying the same is not as effective as a) lost in the noise b)
probably will be bubble filtered out.

Sad thing is I announced I was leaving on wall over months, slowly deleted some
posts, even asked to have tags removed. I later left abd only 6 months later
did someone actually call. 'did you get off facebook?' and a year later someone
else said 'did you block me?'

So definately personal contact to loved ones I would recommend.

>Are there any existing articles or blogs that are recommended for
>people
>going through this process?
>

only technical not social. AFAIK. RMS lecture or text says to reach out
personally, I recall. Friends don't let friends use facebook.

>Are there any tools that can help people?

I did not look for facebook but I did find a python script that would delete
twitter posts. I had over 20k and it crashed my computer at the end my account
showed no tweets but said I had 5k tweets that I could not see. go figure. I
imagine similar hit and miss with facebook.

[libreplanet-discuss] faif alternative to AP ENPS for BBC

2016-03-20 Thread amunizp
Hello,

Speaking to someone who works in BBC I have been told that they are currently
using the Associated Press software called enps:

http://www.enps.com/

This seems to be a package that takes news wires from Journalists and producers
can filter as they see fit and add to schedules to be presented. Such as those
'Breaking news banners' in the bottom of news screens on tv.

It seems that they are looking for alternative. From looking at the specs it
seems to only run on windows server and require Internet explorer (!). I
thought this type of software was extinct!

http://www.enps.com/pages/technical_overview/hardware_and_software_requirements

Does anybody know of alternatives?

[libreplanet-discuss] Free software and disabilities

2015-12-10 Thread amunizp
Hi all,

Speaking to someone the other day they mentioned that there wasn't a central
place to go get disability supported solutions. Short from putting 'disability'
in a package manager, is there any central place where one can look for faif
supporting people with disabilities?

Sadly my search only brought this article from 9 years ago [1].

BTW I heard about sonar Gnu/Linux [2] which is an incredible project a project
and Jasper and Mycroft could be used as well. What I was looking for is where
all these options are listed as well as the stand alone faif packages that can
be used in proprietary platforms.
