Some of those plastic bits are mostly magnesium alloy, I think. But I think
you'll have to strip it and paint each individually...

# Gee! I was thinking of the same thing yesterday night! A bottom battery pack
# for my Libretto.
#
# Anyways, how many others would be interested? I'm sure they're not going to
# custom make one or two just because, or without a lot of money.

I'd be interested.. for a 50ct ;)

Thats the only complaint i have with it.. not the speed, or the ram, or
anything like that, it has plenty of disk space, at 6gb, and the
overclocked 100mhz is perfect for playing mp3s in freebsd.. but i
can't really do anything like that on the go, i've gotta be really
close to AC power to use the lib.. about an hour or a little more on
the single standard pack i have.

just a thought..

Experience with Mandrake 7.1, 8.2, and 9 suggests that X4.2 has serious
problems with the lib 50/70. As far as I can tell, the latest version of
X4.2.1(?) does actually work on the lib but it's detection stuff doesn't
work, so it sulks on the configuration stage.

I think this is to do with the lib running the video chip on the vesa bus, and
X4 looks on the PCI and AGP busses.

Not that there's enough memory on the lib to do an install past M7.1 anyway...

I have an idea that Redhat 7 is roundabout equivalent to Mandrake 8 - in which
case it will come with KDE2 or 3, both of which are serious resource hogs on
the lib. The best solution I came up with was M7.1 with kde1.3 apps, using
icewm as the window manager.

Having said that, the 3.3.6 drivers work a treat...I'll fire up the lib and
post something.

Update from earlier: I've put my working X3.3.6 config at

http://www.nbarnes.easynet.co.uk/libretto/XF86Config

and an untested but generated by XFdrake at the same time X4 config at

http://www.nbarnes.easynet.co.uk/libretto/XF86Config-4

Enjoy.

[LIB] Redhat 7 on a Lib70

2002-11-06 Thread steve steve
Date: Wed, 6 Nov 2002 01:10:03 -0800 (PST)
From: steve steve <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject: Redhat 7 on a Lib70

Hi,
As a Linux newbie I am trying to get Redhat 7 running
on one of my Lib 70 machines. I have it installed and
running but cannot start X. It tries and then bombs
out. The log file shows that it tries PCI without any
joy then fails as it tries for an ISA bus device. I
have set it as the CT65550 chipset and 31.5 Horizontal
refresh rate.

Can someone email a working XF86Config file to me
please?

Cheers,
Steve
