yes 10W is alot. I find you really notice the
differance between text and graphics with that amount.
as soon as something pops on the screen that stays
there the fan starts for me. The cpu doesn't even need
all of that--you'd think it could handle it at way
less since its max is around 7 and my gauge shows only
0-5% usage normally--must be the chpiset. I know
northbridges run pretty hot!!

This is exactly what I was saying. Nothing like 10
 W. Raymond, in theory modern processors should be
cooler. In fact, they run much hotter.

 Best wishes,
 Vitaly

Differences I note:

1) They don't say you have to take out the existing RAM chip to increase
memory in the U105 (probably have to if there's only one).
2) U105 says it has a TouchPad!?! No such thing in the pics, so probably a
typo in the spec sheet.
3) U105 has both stereo and mono speakers! three speakers?!? U100 only has
stereo.
4) U105 adds FastIR port.
5) Both seem to have the same major software - Microsoft Works, Onenote, XP
Pro.

Otherwise, you've got two $2099 systems U105 U100 both with DVD docking
stations and who knows what the 'real differences are'?

105 has a little faster processor and can accept more
memory plus they all come in differant colors!!

Does anyone know how to turn on the native bluetooth
power? Mine is disabled at boot and I need to turn it
on so the bluez drivers will load. Why doesn't the
kernel turn it on? I'm using 2.6.12

thx for info on iptables--just what I needed

discovered my 100 needs the dock installed when it is
very warm from running. needs the vacuum driven cool
air intake to keep the heat down. runs much cooler
than the little Sony though. Seems Toshiba used a
little akido on Sony by producing these
models:))

I noticed on Toshiba's website that they list a U100
and a U105. I downloaded the spec sheets and they
 look to be the same.

What is the difference between a U100 and a U105?

 Thanks!
