If you grabbed the latest source and got Licq there is probably something broken in your build. I just tried the daily snapshot, applied the changes and it worked. Tha task bar identifies the window as Licq ($username) and correctly gives the asterisk on arrival of a new message. Are you running kde-gui or just plain qt-gui? The full package version for licq is 1.3.6-0ubuntu1 and for licq-plugin-qt is 1.3.6-0ubuntu1. The about window identifies licq as version 1.3.5/SSL and the Qt GUI Plugin as 1.3.5, compiled on Jul 3 2008, though. As far as I can see, the GUI plugin I use is qt-gui.
