Get firebug and look at the CSS hierarchy for the element. That should
locate where it's being overridden pretty quickly.

Thats what I wonder. It should work. When I refer to a css file with
the border setting it works,
but not with the setting from the snippet. I need to figure it out.

That looks right to me -- it should show a border with a default  
stylesheet. When I throw that ... into a HTML file by  
itself, I get a border.
