The old code (part of issue 4979) used quite broken code for merging
intervals that could crash eating all memory under certain conditions
and failed to account for merging certain interval combinations.

Well, with this patch we reach the theoretical optimum of subsetted musicfonts.
There is exactly one subset for emmentaler-20 in notation.pdf, not 8 as with
the old code. The scm code is simplified. The same algorithm might be used on
additional fonts, further improving our pdfs.

I've pushed to stable/2.20 now so that Phil can attempt rolling a release of
2.19.82 from the stable branch. If that works out, I'll cherry-pick to
staging. Which is sort of a weird order of doing things.
