I ran into the following problem when trying to
convert a midi file into .ly file.
I ran the following command in the Cygwin shell
window:
midi2ly my.mid (return)
Got this message -
Traceback:
File /usr/bin/midi2ly, line 43, in ?

As a lilypond rookie, I have a question to submit to this list:
I entered my music, tested it, and it (almost) sounds the way it should.
Now, how do I choose a different midi voice for my staves?
I saw a Staff.instrumentMidi thing somewhere but its syntax is unclear to me.

Hmm, it seems that your file is coded in UTF-8 Unicode, which
unfortunately cannot be handled by LilyPond yet.
If you use a text editor that saves the file using Latin1
(ISO 8859-1) character encoding, everything will work much better.
