Hi all,
I'm a beginner in the use of LP; I usually make a score with MuseScore, then
I export it to an .xml file and use musicxml2ly to get a .ly file and
launch it on UbuntuStudio to call Frescobaldi, to have a better output.
The problems that I encounter are often due to the fact that I'm not

It is very interesting that Gould states this (is this from hers Behind
Bars: the Definitive Guide to Music Notation?). Although this makes
perfectly sense, I think that a lot of musicians (myself included until now)
would not have thought that a piu F indication starts at the F position
instead
Hello all,
Is there a quick and easy way of disabling transposition (i.e. the effects of
both \transpose and \transposition commands) for an entire Staff, StaffGroup or
Score?
Thanks best wishes,

Does it work if you redefine it with
transpose = {}
?

Nope. Remember that transposition statements are things like:
\transpose bf c' { ... }
and
\transposition bf
So, if you just define transpose and transposition as empty music, Lilypond will
Ah yes, I thought so - after hitting send.
But you should be able to define a music function that simply prints the music
it is passed. Use parameters for the two pitches and ignore them.
Can't try out because I'm on the phone, but you should be able to go that way.

Hi,
I just got the call for help at the end of this message.
What would be the best advise/pointer/introduction to give someone
interested in migrating from Finale to LilyPond?
A quick glance seems to confirm that the relevant sections of the Usage
Manual aren't exactly inviting to someone

Any org-babel-lilypond users out there?
I've just managed successfully to get lilypond to compile a png from an org
source block and include it in a beamer frame.
However, lilypond is generating a full-size A4 page, but these are very
short examples and I'd like them to be trimmed
The problem is that any solution uses the Terminal: the command itself, or
the installation of Frescobaldi (no fixed, even for the last OS X release).

Isn't there an installer for Mac by now? Or did I get something wrong there?

Yes, using the Macports package distribution system. Perhaps could you send
me his mail in order to make step by step instructions. The instructions
posted on Frescoabaldi website are OK with some command line knowledge.
Macport isn't completely easy, but is more straightforward once installed.
I'm sure pentagram is referring to staff.

Hello Joseph,
I see, you just came up with your own solution. Just one thought:
transpose is defined as a function with three arguments, pitch A and B
and the music to transpose. I don't know if it is a problem. To avoid it
you might use a function like this one:
transpose =
