was looking at the wrong entry in the table in the Notation Reference.
2. Having looked further, I do think that some chords are generating
incorrect chord names (but correct
to generate the full triad).

I think you need to put a \transpose inside the chordnames{}, too

Thanks, Robin; that seems to work pretty well, especially if there is a
chord on the first note. If not, then I have to specify a rest rather than a
skip, which of course results in the dreaded N/C. But I can tipex that 8-)
