Sorry for the delay.
Thomas, I have no clue what you did there, but it works like a charm!
Lyrics and vertical alignment just perfect.
Thanks a million! One day I shall dig into the code and be enlightened.
One thing I haven't quite worked out yet is how to get the center-alignment
activated only
Hi guys,
I'm seriously impressed! Thanks a million for all your input.
David N's solution works pretty well, although I, too, am having trouble
with vertical positioning. In my attached min example, the lyrics came out
wrong.
The example also gives an idea of the sort of thing I am trying to cre
There are paper variables to achieve ragged-right and ragged-last layout.
Is there a way to achieve center-aligned music in a score? Similar to
ragged-left, but equally distribute the space between left and right
borders (aka ragged-both).
I know it's an unusual request, but I feel it makes sense
Excellent, \extendLV works for me. Many thanks!
cheers,

Hi,
I'm looking for something like a "repeat slur".
Background: I'm typesetting a sheet of short repeatable patterns, each
separated by a double bar line. Some patterns use legato slurs across the
repeat.
Minimal example:
\score {
{
% first pattern
2 ) ( | 2 ) (
\bar "||"
% second pattern

Hi,
I'm trying to typeset etudes with variations (alternative bowings,
articulations etc. for the same music) at the bottom. The variations should
be printed in small.
Minimal example:
music = \repeat unfold 32 { c'' d'' e'' f'' }
% Default size
\score {
\music
}
% Small staves for variations

Works, thanks!

In this snippet for an educational music sheet
\score {
\new Staff \with {
\remove "Time_signature_engraver"
}{
\override Staff.Clef.color = #(x11-color 'grey80)
s1
}
}
the grey clef overprints the staff lines, which does not look good. How can
I make the clef appear behind the staff lines?

Hi folks,
I'm trying to typeset a single quarter note with stem and crossed note head
inside a \markup. So far I've only managed note heads with \musicglyph:
\markup \musicglyph #"noteheads.s2cross"
How can I add the stem?
cheers

Brilliant! Thanks. I will look up the meaning of collapse-height, to
understand what I'm doing here…

Another issue:
I am trying to typeset a sheet that introduces note durations like so:
\score {
<<
\new RhythmicStaff \with { instrumentName = "Whole notes" }{
d1
}
\new RhythmicStaff \with { instrumentName = "Half notes" }{
d2 d
}
\new RhythmicStaff \with { instrumentName = "Quarter notes" }{
d4
each score.
I couldn't figure out a way to do this, so any suggestions welcome!
best regards
Hendrik

Hi folks,
I like the textual \tempo mark in LilyPond 2.12 and use it a lot. However, when
preparing instrument parts, I often face the following problem:
\compressFullBarRests
\tempo "Allegro"
R1*6
\tempo "Rall."
R1*2
\tempo "A tempo"
R1*8
Because the multi-measure rest bars are too short, the
Hi there,
I'm trying to put lyrics to a voice in a two-voice context, but I seem
to be doing something wrong. In the following minimal example the notes
after the split part are garbled:

\time 2/4
