Hi!
Thanks for the help! We can conclude that Lilypad does not support UTF-8. I
opened with Notepad and save as (was ANSI!!) but chose UTF-8 and that
solved the issue!
I would like the Lillypad to support UTF-8. Would be a good Christmas gift
next year :-)

On OS X, the editor in the LilyPond application works fine with UTF-8.

Hi Karin,
Lilypond is Unicode aware. HTML escape codes have no relevance to lilypond. Any
editor that supports Unicode will allow you to type Swedish, and there is no
need for ‘special characters’.
Frescobaldi is highly recommneded as a lilypond programming environment.
