What: A day to celebrate cultures that make up America When: June 12: 6-7:30 Where: Weston Town Green Background: Since 2016, the governor annually has issued a proclamation setting the second Sunday in June as Massachusetts Race Amity Day. · This day recognizes that the Commonwealth is composed of multicultural, multi-ethnic multiracial citizens, and to encourage friendship and collegiality. *Please bring your own chairs**. The event is free.* *Description: * This will be a time of celebration with artistic expressions from different cultures and a Keynote address by social justice advocate Roland Gibson whose service to advance social justice includes the development of the Weston METCO program as a model for voluntary school desegregation. In addition there will be dancing, singing and movement by people of all ages with backgrounds from areas of the world including Ireland, Nigeria, India, Cuba, Costa Rica, and Tongo performed by people of all ages. The evening will end with “We are the World” sung by all of us together.
