Residents with weakened immune systems or at increased risk of severe Covid-19 disease because of age or medical conditions, or who have a household member at such increased risk, are advised by the Lincoln BOH and the Commonwealth’s Department of Public Health (DPH) to continue to wear a mask when indoors other than in their home, even if they are vaccinated. We encourage the public to continue to wear masks in accordance with their own comfort level and in compliance with the DPH guidelines cited above. Private establishments may continue to *require masks upon entry.* *Updated indoor mask use recommendation as of April 14, 2022*: “Due to recent data showing an increase in positive COVID-19 cases, the Board of Health members voted last night to strongly recommend that people wear masks in public indoor spaces until early May as we see how the infection rate from the new BA-2 variant evolves over the next few weeks after spring vacation.” More information is available on the town website here. <https://www.lincolntown.org/1169/Coronavirus-Covid-19> Please visit our FAQ page <https://us506.directrouter.com/~hgpozntp/about/library-phase-iii-reopening-information-2> for more information about our changes in service! *Holiday Hours* The Lincoln Library will be closed all day on Monday, October 10 in observance of the Columbus Day holiday. *Saturday Hours* As of Saturday, September 10, the Lincoln Library is open on Saturdays from 10am – 5pm. *Sunday Hours* The Lincoln Library is currently closed on Sundays. Author Anita Harris on *The View from Third Street* <https://lincolnpl.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/author-anita-harris-on-the-view-from-third-street/> *Saturday, October 1, 3:00pm – 4:30pm* *Tarbell Room with Zoom option* As a fledgling reporter in the early 1970s, author Anita M. Harris and college friends helped found a small newspaper on Third Street in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The Harrisburg Independent Press (AKA "HIP") was first conceived to report on the Trial of the Harrisburg Seven-- in which anti-Vietnam War nuns and priests were accused of conspiring to kidnap Presidential Advisor Henry Kissinger and blow up underground heating tunnels in Washington, DC. (True story!) Like the many other underground and alternative newspapers of the day, HIP covered civic, consumer, national and international issues--many with parallels in the unrest we are experiencing today. In this unconventional memoir, Harris traces, from the point of view of Ani, her 23-year-old self, the founding of the newspaper, the trial, and the devastating Flood of 1972, which left 124 people dead. Interwoven, with humor and puzzlement, are stories of Ani's love relationship, her coverage of poverty and social injustice, and HIP''s reporting on topics ranging from dirty movies to slave labor, heroin sales, racial discrimination, a burgeoning feminist movement, abortion rights and opposition to the Vietnam War. The book also includes many images and cartoons--giving readers a wonderful sense of what it was like to live in those amazing times. Anita Harris is an award-winning journalist, author and communications consultant who resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This will be a hybrid event. For five decades, first in England, then in Hollywood, he made fifty-four films, including classics such as The Thirty-Nine Steps, Rebecca, Notorious, Rear Window, North by Northwest, Vertigo, and Psycho. Few filmmakers have been as popular, critically celebrated, and as influential, not only as a director but also as a multi-media showman through his tv series, magazines, book anthologies, even extending to board games and record albums. This presentation looks at his achievements as “the master of suspense,” and through dozens of film clips, examines his extraordinary creativity as one of the 20th century’s greatest filmmakers. Led by Brian Rose, a professor emeritus at Fordham University, where he taught for 38 years in the Department of Communication and Media Studies. He’s written several books on television history and cultural programming and conducted more than a hundred Q&As with leading directors, actors, and writers for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the Screen Actors Guild, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, and the Directors Guild of America.
