Re: [Linphone-users] Startup problem in Windows 10

2021-02-17 Thread Martin W
Hi,
Thank you for the suggestions, but I think I have to make clear that even
after a fresh install NO window will open at all when I start linphone
manually the first time (and all following times).
So I don't have an option to do any settings or access the menu. Simply
nothing.
I will try tomorrow to start it from an admin command prompt manually after
navigating to that folder, but I am afraid this won't change anything.
Are there any command line parameters that might help?
Thank you!

P.S. using Jitsi App currently (not the video conferencing)

Hi ael,

thanks for your quick reply. My problem seems to be different though, i can
initiate and receive calls through the GUI (I think I have not taken one, but
at least it rings). My problem is rather the opposite, in linphone 3 I could
initiate a call in a linphone instance from the command line (no matter if
there was a running linphone instance or not before). In linphone 4 I do at
least not know how that works.

Hallo,

I dont't use Wndows, but I assume that the Windows and the Linux version
are similar.
You produce a log file if you call "Einstellunge" from the Menu
accessible on the top left edge.
On the new window choose the "Erweitert" tab. You will be able to set
"Protokolle aktiviert".

You will probably to terminate Linphone in order to be able to open the
log file.

Hello...

Several weeks ago I installed and have used Linphone to make
phone calls on Win10 without problems (based on 2 SIP numbers).
At some point, Linphone did not startup again, neither automatically
nor when explicitly started.
The hourglass is active for about 5 seconds - but no window appears
(no taskbar icon either).
It seems to me the process gets stuck in a very early phase.
However, there is a background task linphone.exe running - but
without any effect or visibility (Status "Wird ausgeführt" in
german, like 'running' in english).
- I have no idea what could have stopped linphone from working correctly
- I have removed and reinstalled linphone already twice, but nothing
changed: whenever I try to start it, no window becomes visible.
- an alternative SIP client which i installed in the meantime is
working fine, however i would prefer to use linphone
* Is there a startup log or similar which i can have a look at to
identify the issue? Where is it located?
* Do you have an idea what could be the cause for this issue?

Thank you,
DeMaddin

Sometimes, Linphone won't load properly if the folders it is pointed to are
unavailable when the app starts.

Check the startup tab in task manager to make sure it has an entry.

If that doesn't work, create a shortcut and drop it in %PROGRAMDATA%\Start
Menu\ Startup.

I have never used kaddressbook, but you might find some help in
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=979139

It could be that you have not installed the linphone-desktop package:
I was caught by that and had something similar to what you are
reporting.

[Linphone-users] Calling linphone out of kaddressbook

2021-02-17 Thread Rainer Dorsch via Linphone-users
Hi,

I used to call linphone out of kaddressbook using

linphone --call %N

After the upgrade to Debian bullseye which corresponds to a linphone upgrade
from 3.12.0 to 4.4.21 this does not work anymore.

After inspecting the man page, I tried

rd@h370:~$ linphone call +4917235965xx
[17:49:09:681][0x558417f0c220][Info]app/App.cpp:212: "Starting Linphone (bin:
linphone)"
[17:49:09:681][0x558417f0c220][Info]app/App.cpp:213: "Use locale: de_DE"
[17:49:09:682][0x558417f0c220][Info]:0: "Running secondary app success. Kill
it now."
[17:49:09:682][0x558417f0c220][Info]app/App.cpp:217: "Destroying app..."
rd@h370:~$

Even if I stop the running instance, it does not work.

Any hint or idea how to make kaddressbook working with linphone 4 is welcome.

Thanks
Rainer
