I just got a call from someone from tech support that insisted my
computer had a virus that was flooding the net with messages. Which is
very strange since I do my own tech support. They also did not name the
company they were working for. When I told them I was running Linux,
they hung up.

When I was making such calls for Nortel only 1 person questioned me, most just
gave me their IP
When I received this call, call-display shows 123-456-7890. I also noticed
that when I answered I heard a ringing tone which means to me at least that
they had a dial out mechanism to further cover their tracks.
