Sleep is actually a builtin in ksh, although not in bash (what you probably have as /bin/sh) or (don't program in this!) tcsh. I'd be curious to see if changing the first line of your script to "#! /bin/ksh" helps---if you have ksh installed. I second the suggestion of putting "set -x" in the
