You might try:
/etc/init.d/network restart
So it stops the connections before starting them.
Is it safe to assume that z/OS doesn't experience the same issue?

I saw the same. There is a link to order the z/Series SEK on DVD so I
was able to do that. If for some reason it isn't on the DVD then I'll
get with the IBM rep and get it that way.
Thanks for all the help folks,
Steve

I can clone a SuSE guest in about 5 minutes and be left with a
functional server. According to the published calculation I should be
able to bring up a win2k (and up) server in about 3.5 minutes?
Ok, so that's not really fair, but even in an x86 world I can `dd` the
system disks, tote them to
The first sentence says it all Microsoft-funded research. I think, at

There is. You can create an entry in zipl.conf for loading the kernel
with the desired parameters and one with the normal parms. Then during
ipl you can specify 'loadparm entry_#' to ipl another set of
parameters on the kernel command line. Doing this can also result in a

that were the case then users that were added without the -1 would

Also, include the cost between racking up 32 servers compared to running
the same 32 servers on the same physical platform? Items like power,
cooling, operations and floor space are significant numbers in both the
initial cost and the cost of maintenance. Still isn't dirt cheap but it
does change
