Greetings all,
I am running z/VM 5.4 on an 2094 IFL and I am trying to install SLES10 SP1
of
SUSE Linux. I am using a virtual switch for the network connection. The
VM userid I am trying to install from is XG1DTECH here is a coy of the
SLES10 PARM:
ramdisk_size=10016 root=/dev/ram1 ro

Just looking quickly I see:
ramdisk_size=10016
The default shipped is ramdisk_size=65536, I believe. I would stick with
that.
Also, did you do a DEF STOR 512M before installing, if by chance the
default virtual machine size is smaller than this? You

With respect to Linux installs ( most commercial Z based distributions
work the same way ) the installer loads a ramdisk into the system
memory to run the installer code. That ramdisk takes up some of the
system memory, of course.

For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions,
Maybe the installer grabs file by file, puts on its temporary disk and
installls it. So, for big rpm files, 64mb wouldn't be enough.
