/usr/share/openldap/migration to convert your text-based system
databases (passwd, hosts, group, etc) into LDBM. Then tweak around

Oooh, that's a tough one. I believe that not only will you have to
enable the pseudo-terminals in /etc/securetty, but additionally you'll
have to tell PAM not to restrict root login based on terminal. Hmm,
now who knows PAM well here?
