Re: [linux-delhi] Login prompt upon telnet
Running Red Hat 5.2 with kernel 2.2.7 When I telnet to the linux box, I get a prompt `hostname` login: Is there a way I can disable the `hostname` thing and not to display it. I think this is something related with login and getty. But where does it picks up the hostname from? Not from /etc/sysconfig/network. Not from /etc/HOSTNAME. run /usr/sbin/in.telnetd with the -h switch. man telnetd for more info. - aditya PGP signature

Re: [linux-delhi] Login prompt upon telnet
Agreed. That it should be in issue.net file but the hostname doesn't comes before the login prompt!! You already know of a server which has 5.2 running. Telnet there at take a look :-) ciao, -Gaurav Raj Mathur [EMAIL PROTECTED] on 11/27/99 08:59:01 AM Please respond to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] cc:(bcc: Gaurav Sabharwal/HSS) Subject: [linux-delhi] Login prompt upon telnet AFAIR it was in /etc/issue.net. However, you told me that it's not present there for some reason. Anyone got a 5.2 box I can telnet to and check this out? :-) And nope, gettydefs is only used by getty co. If you dial in, you'll be presented with the gettydefs login prompt. - Raju "Gaurav" == gauravs [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Gaurav Hi, Gaurav Running Red Hat 5.2 with kernel 2.2.7 Gaurav When I telnet to the linux box, I get a prompt `hostname` Gaurav login: Is there a way I can disable the `hostname` thing Gaurav and not to display it.
