There was another suggestion on the list about setting up a cronjob that
ran every minute that scanned the output of tail /var/log/messages for
errors and restarted mythtv-backend if there were any, but
The disconnect problem is the exact same problem I keep getting. I've
tried to ask on the linux-usb lists, but I was told that i had faulty
hardware if I keep getting disconnects - I don't think so as a lot of
us Nova-T users seem to be getting the exact same disconnect problem.

I have been getting exactly the same problem for a while, disconnects a
few times a day and it's getting frustrating.
Where did you get the updated firmware from? I really want to find a
solution to this!
