I will take a look at this. Can it work with a loopback interface on the
same system? Or at least, does it work without any real devices (serial
tty or sound card) in the mix? Sounds like a HOWTO waiting to be
written, if so!

AX/IP might be an option too… tunnelling AX.25 over IPv4.
