No go with the Mandriva 2009.0 regarding the Webcam. I unfortunately don't remember what I did but for one time I actually got a picture in the Preview. I think in the /etc/modprobe.d  I added a line options quickcam compatible=6 as I saw in www.linuxquestions.org I also tried both
