linux-next: Tree for Apr 8

2021-04-08 Thread Stephen Rothwell
Hi all,

Changes since 20210407:

The net-next tree gained conflicts against the net and bpf trees.

The bluetooth tree gained a build failure so I used the version from
next-20210407.

The irqchip tree gained a build failure so I used the version from
next-20210407.

The akpm-current tree gained a conflict against the kbuild tree.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 10061
 9261 files changed, 513471 insertions(+), 236080 deletions(-)

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc, an allmodconfig for x86_64, a
multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a native build of tools/perf. After
the final fixups (if any), I do an x86_64 modules_install followed by
builds for x86_64 allnoconfig, powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit),
ppc44x_defconfig, allyesconfig and pseries_le_defconfig and i386, sparc
and sparc64 defconfig and htmldocs. And finally, a simple boot test
of the powerpc pseries_le_defconfig kernel in qemu (with and without
kvm enabled).

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 335 trees (counting Linus' and 87 trees of bug
fix patches pending for the current merge release).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

Hi Jonathan, Randy,

I've posted 3 patches:
- One to fix the current issue, with the stub option [1]. This makes
sense as the STM32 DFSDM can use timer and/or lptimer. I think I'll post
another patch later to remove the select in STM32_ADC config (no longer
needed then... But it's not the subject here, right ?).
- Two other patches to fix other warning/build issues I've seen while
working on the stub option. See [2]:

[1] https://lkml.org/lkml/2019/4/15/223
[2] https://lkml.org/lkml/2019/4/15/437

Sorry for the inconvenience, I should have seen this earlier.

Thanks,
Best Regards,
Fabrice

Thanks Randy.

So two possible fixes for this one. We can do what is done for the
stm32-adc driver and select IIO_STM_TIMER_TRIGGER or we can add a stub
for this function in the header to make it return false if that
driver isn't built.

I personally favour the stub option but would like Fabrice to say what
makes more sense.

So Fabrice, which of the above? If you are busy and don't get back
in the next day or two, I'll add the stub.

Thanks,

Jonathan

The audit tree gained a conflict against Linus' tree.

The staging tree gained a conflict against the staging.current tree.

linux-next: Tree for Apr 8

2016-04-07 Thread Stephen Rothwell
Hi all,

Changes since 20160407:

The akpm-current tree still had its build failure for which I applied
a patch.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 3002
 2806 files changed, 114490 insertions(+), 69528 deletions(-)

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig (with
CONFIG_BUILD_DOCSRC=n) for x86_64, a multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a
native build of tools/perf. After the final fixups (if any), I do an
x86_64 modules_install followed by builds for x86_64 allnoconfig,
powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig, allyesconfig
(this fails its final link) and pseries_le_defconfig and i386, sparc
and sparc64 defconfig.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 232 trees (counting Linus' and 35 trees of patches
pending for Linus' tree).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

Hi all,

Please do not add material intended for v3.16 to your linux-next included
branches until after v3.15-rc1 is released.

This tree still fails (more than usual) the powerpc allyesconfig build.

linux-next: Tree for Apr 8

2014-04-07 Thread Stephen Rothwell
Hi all,

Please do not add material intended for v3.16 to your linux-next included
branches until after v3.15-rc1 is released.

This tree still fails (more than usual) the powerpc allyesconfig build.

Changes since 20140407:

Dropped trees: akpm-current, akpm (too complex conflicts)

The powerpc tree still had its build failure.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 1631
 1840 files changed, 145755 insertions(+), 30565 deletions(-)

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use git pull
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use git fetch as mentioned in the FAQ on the wiki
(see below).

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log files
in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built with
a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64 and a
multi_v7_defconfig for arm. After the final fixups (if any), it is also
built with powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig and
allyesconfig (this fails its final link) and i386, sparc, sparc64 and arm
defconfig.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 213 trees (counting Linus' and 28 trees of patches
pending for Linus' tree).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

There is a wiki covering stuff to do with linux-next at
http://linux.f-seidel.de/linux-next/pmwiki/ . Thanks to Frank Seidel.

linux-next: Tree for Apr 8

2013-04-08 Thread Stephen Rothwell
Hi all,

Changes since 20130405:

The vfs tree gained a build failure so I used the version from
next-20130405.

The wireless-next tree still had its build failure for which I applied a
supplied patch.

The mfd tree gained a build failure so I used the version from
next-20130405.

The omap_dss2 tree gained a conflict against Linus' tree.

The akpm tree gained a conflict against the scsi tree.

I have created today's linux-next tree at

CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATED, CONFIG_ENABLE_MUST_CHECK and
CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO disabled when necessary.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

We are up to 222 trees (counting Linus' and 31 trees of patches pending
for Linus' tree), more are welcome (even if they are currently empty).
Thanks to those who have contributed, and to those who haven't, please do.
