Thank you for the quick answer! I downloaded http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb/archive/tip.tar.bz2 and did: make release VER=`uname -r` make sudo make install I had to disable "firedtv" as well, but that is another (ubuntu related) known issue. Unfortunately it's not working and I get the same error
