Re: [linux-dvb] TeVii S470 periodically fails to tune/lock - needspoweroff

2010-09-07 Thread OM Ugarcina
Thanks for that Karsten,

I have checked the temperature and seems normal . It does not look
like it is getting overly hot . I have been keeping a close eye on it
and it looks like I get more failures when using Diseqc . I notice
when going to another satellite then coming back I seem to get more
no-locks . My suspicion is that there may be some issues with diseqc
function that will crash the card . After a full power down is done
card is back in operation with no problems . Could this be a firmware
thing ?

  Hello Guys,

I have been using my TeVii S470 DVBS2 card for about one month . I am
using it with mythtv on fedora 12 using latest kernel , and compiled the
latest v4l drivers . The sensitivity and picture is very good both on dvbs
and dvbs2 transponders , very happy with that . However several times
already when trying to watch live tv on myth the channel failed to tune .
Usually happens in the morning after box was running 24x7 for a few days .
The only way to restore functionality is to do a power off and wait a couple
of mins then power on . If I just do a reboot , this does not help . Strange
thing is that I see nothing unusual in the mythtv logs or dmesg/messages log
. When the card is in this no-lock state , it will not tune into any
transponder even when I run scandvb . After power reset everything works
again for a few more days . Any info welcome .

 Best Regards

Re: [linux-dvb] TeVii S470 in mythtv - diseqc problems

2010-07-01 Thread OM Ugarcina
Hello Hans,

Much thanks for your advice . I have done that options setting and it
helped with my other issues . I have just worked out this problem . It
was connected with the changing of the DVBS card that I used for years
with a new DVBS2 and Mythtv . I thought that it was the drivers issue
- but it is not . My apologies to the DVB developers ( sorry Igor for
doubting ) . The issue is that Mythtv when dealing with DVBS2 card
will need to access an additional parameter from the dtv_multiplex
table which is mod_sys . In my mod_sys column there was only 1 ,
instead of a proper setting such as DVB-S . After updating the table
, mythtv was able to execute a tune properly .

What utility to use to scan dvbs2 transponders

2010-07-01 Thread OM Ugarcina
Hello Guys

What is the tool of choice to use to scan dvbs2 satellites ? I tried
dvbscan but it only picked up dvbs transponders , the dvbs2 ones it
failed to tune . I saw that there used to be this utility scan-s2 ,
but looks like it was abandoned a couple of years ago and has not been
maintained since . So how do you guys do a transponder scan for dvbs2
?

TeVii S470 in mythtv - diseqc problems

2010-06-30 Thread OM Ugarcina

Hello Guys,

Just installed a S470 into my mythbox , fedora 12 kernel
2.6.32.14-127.fc12.i686.PAE . Myth is .23 the most recent fedora package
, the drivers for dvb card I have at the moment were pulled in
2010-04-01 . I assume they are pretty current . The problem that I have
is as follows :
Most of my viewing is done on a Satellite connected to diseqc port 2 ,
and myth tunes into that with no probs at all , but occasionally I try
to watch a channel that is on a second satellite - port 1 and here
things fail . Myth tries to tune into the channel - then times out with
error , during this the dvb driver crashes , and when I try to retune
again with myth there is no lock on either satellite . So I need to
restart pc , then everything comes back on port 2 and myth is able to
tune again channels within that first satellite . Any one else
experienced diseqc issues with this card and myth ?

Second question what is the tool of choice to use to scan dvbs2
satellites ? I tried dvbscan but it only picked up dvbs transponders ,
on dvbs2 it failed to tune . I saw that there used to be this utillity
scan-s2 , but looks like it was abandoned a couple of years ago and has
not been maintained since . So how do you guys do a transponder scan for
dvbs2 ?

I was able to tune into my favourite satellite with mythtv with no
problems . I also was able to tune to another satellite using the mythtv
configuration for 4 way diseqc . So 4 way diseqc works fine for me .
Picture is satble and very good , sound also is ok . I will just run it
now to see how the system stability is over a longer period of time .

One small issue I have noticed : and that is in mythtv the signal
strength indicator shows very low with S350 now . Before I was getting
with TT1500S around 79 to 89% while now with S350 I see about 18% for
the same channel .

Thanks Igor,

I have tried the second version of the 12096 patch and it applied
perfectly . Also I ran a make on the dvb drivers , and they all compiled
without error . So everything is good now . Next step is to install the
drivers and the Compro S350 card into the PC . One question please , I
only need these new drivers to get the S350 working , so which .ko's do
I need to install ? I am quite happy to have the other stuff such as
webcams ...etc. from the kernel .

Re: [linux-dvb] Problem with video4linux

2009-01-17 Thread OM Ugarcina

Hello Mauro,

After using the mythtv setup for a few days now with kernel
2.6.27.9-159.fc10.i686 and v4l modules from 2009-01-06 as well as
2009-01-16 I have noticed some problems with sound . I use exclusively
optical spdiff passthrough from my motherboard asus 5b (intel chips for
audio) to the AV Receiver for audio . And with either of those two v4l
sources are installed I start getting no audio on the spdif . Without
them , using the dvb support that comes with the kernel all is ok .
Maybe it could be related to that ALSA issue ? Could you please tell me
which svn pull of the v4l source the 2.6.27.9-159.fc10.i686 kernel comes
with ? In the last six months there have been a lot of changes to the
dvbs api , and knowing what the kernel comes with would help me compile
additional sw that I need for my myth box . Otherwise it involves a lot
of trial and error .
