Hello,
I'm going to buy my first DVB-S2 USB tuner.
I see that there are two best demod/tuner solutions:
1. Montage Technology M88TS2020/2 tuner and M88DS3000/2 demodulator
2. STMicroelectronics STB6100 tuner and STV0903BAC demodulator
Can you please tell me which is better for Linux user like me (STM or
Montage)?
I haven't seen a driver for Montage in v4l-dvb.git,
I see it :)
http://git.linuxtv.org/media_tree.git?a=blob;f=drivers/media/dvb/frontends/ds3000.c;h=fc61d9230db8bd1d0eb9541e8698da647f0a5367;hb=HEAD
so your best choise
is to go with the STV0903. But then it also depends whether the USB
part of your device is supported already or not.
Rather not. One of this group's member told me PM that he has ProfTuner
7301 (STV0903 based) and it does not work correctly. I have got also some
other arguments why STB6100 tuner and STV0903 are not perfect match
together.
What device are you think about?
TeVii S660 (M88TS2020/2 tuner and M88DS3000/2 demodulator)
or
AdvanceTune 7700 USB (STB6100 tuner and STV0903BAC demodulator)
(AdvanceTune is Prof Tuner 7500 USB with updated demodulator chip - its
name ends with BAC not BAB). According to manufacturer hw bugs are fixed,
more stable reception, locks signal with smaller dishes, hw blindscan now
available. http://www.prof-tuners.com/eng/
I look for usb dvb-s2 device. According to:
http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-S2_USB_Devices
The only supported devices with open driver are those from DVBWorld or
Tevii. Only Tevii S660 is available in Poland.
Prof Revolution DVB-S2 7500 USB has unsupported status so AdvanceTune 7700
USB will be unsupported too.
The question is how much wiki is in sync with driver development status.
So far Montage support looks better (supported in wiki but is it actaully
working? How looks usability is it fast or slow switching channels etc..)
have a nice day and thanks for response,
