I just found that when $_lpt1 in dosemu.conf is set to just (empty string)
dosemu crashes with following output:
$ dosemu -s -X
Running as root in full feature mode
ERROR: Fault in dosemu code, in_dpmi=2
ERROR: cpu exception in dosemu code outside of DPMI client!
trapno: 0x0d

Thanks, that sounds reasonable. What I forgot to say is that I see this
when
logged in via Putty or ssh. Is there an easy way of turning off UTF-8
support, perhaps an environment variable?
