Packet loss can explain stalled session, but I expect some
retransmission after some time.
FWIW, I experienced similar issues with my Cubietruck at 1Gbps and
forced it down to 100Mbps for that reason. IIRC I did report it here at
the time (6 months ago, more or less).

But HDMI is not full screen and some portion is missing in TV.
