This bug seems to have been fixed in previous versions but came back in 1.4.0 (see bug #424988). The workaround I'm using is the following shell command: for a in DSC*.JPG; do b=${a:4:4};mv $a $((b-4321)).jpg; done It makes DSC04322.JPG into 1.jpg by extracting the number part and subtracting
