I found a solution. Again, my Ubuntu was a completely new LTS install,
22.04.3 - or rather I was running Kubuntu but that's just Ubuntu with
KDE as the default WM:

I installed all of the non ppa:openshot dependencies and that didn't fix
the issue for me, so it might be a different version of libopenshot from
the dailies that did it for you.
