After about two weeks of peace with James's patch (the one for
scsi_error.c) and the second patch from Mathias (the one for hub.c)
applied, I just got another hang. dmesg here:

Got this in dmesg again during a compilation with James's patch and the
first of yours applied:

patch from James (the one also suggested to me by Alan) stays applied as

The bug hasn't occurred since I applied the latter, but then again there
