I compiled a 2.6.7 kernel with
CONFIG_USB_DEBUG=y
CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_DEBUG=y
and then proceeded to connect the hard drive and memory-stick
to two different hubs. I used "logger" to insert strings into
the logfile to indicate what I was about to do. The strings
have the form "%% MESSAGE IN

updating (I'll send a patch later). However, there was nothing apparent
that would cause them to fail on a UP. Under SMP one or two things could
