Hi!
I am using a USB to serial adapter having FTDI chip,
for the USB testing on Linux.
1. When I selct the USB ftdi single port serial driver
in kernel configuration, and do a
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices after booting up then I get
the following output, which says that no driver is
associated with the serial converter.
Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=12
MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8
#Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=067b ProdID=2303 Rev= 2.02
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=100mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=00 Prot=00
Driver=(none)
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 10 Ivl=1ms
E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=83(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
however when I select the generic USB serial driver
from the kernel configuration I get the following
output for the above command, which says that the
generic serial driver has been associate with the
USB-serial adapter.
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=00 Prot=00
Driver=usbserial_generic
Can any one please tell me why the FTDI drver is not
getting associated twith the USB to serial adapter.
2. If I am using a USB to serial adapter while
performing the USB testing at linux-usb.org/usbtest,
what is the device that I should connect at the serial
end of the cable? Can I perform the same testing by
making the serial cable as loopback, or how exactly
the setup would be in this case?
3. If I have to do a USB host to host transfer(bulk
transfer) in Linux then , what do I need to enable in
the kernel configuration or what's the extra
developement I have to do on top of the available USB
drivers?
regards
-Nitin
