I checked out the CVS code on Sourceforge for my Kodak CF reader and it
worked first time. The site says the code is alpha but the documentation
with it says it's beta.
If you're willing to fiddle a bit this works nicely.

That shuttle file is included in usb-storage if you turn on the HP
CD-Writer 82xx support.
