I would go file a bug with Ubuntu and tell them to upgrade their kernel
:)

The patch was never in any 4.15 kernel release, sorry, I recommend using
a newer kernel, or a distro that uses newer kernels.

I have no idea what kernel version Ubuntu is using at all, sorry.  The
patch you are pointing at is in the following kernel versions:
4.14.50 4.16.16 4.17.2
so anything newer than those should be just fine for you to use.
