A real modem anyone?

2008-06-26 Thread Nick Rout
Does anyone have a cheap/free external modem? I have a friend on very limited budget who needs a computer for a course. I am giving him an old one from my office on condition I don't have to support windows. The computer has ubuntu installed and works fine, but he needs to get on the net.

Hi Nick, I've got a Netcomm Roadster II 56 Ultra external modem I haven't used it for a few years, but it worked fine with mandrake 9.2 back then. I'm guessing it just worked or needed little configuring as I was fairly new to linux back then and I don't remember it giving me too many headaches.

Asking on list is the best bet at present :) The last person who asked got so many responses that they choose who was closest to drive to! I've still got some units in storage. Cheers Don chris wrote: Multi media in ch-ch is a good bet. i have picked up many from there for a few dollars.
