I think I read somewhere recently that there is a binary called rpmbuild,
and that rpm --rebuild simply executes rpmbuild anyway.
ymmv as I only skimmed over it looking for something else.

I had a look on rpmfind.net, and there is a buildrpm C library, but no
rpmbuild

Spelling the RPM package name with a hypen, with the program name having
no hypen. A neat trick for the unwary!

Use rpm 3.0.6 and you won't have trouble. I can give you both src and bin. I
guess there is a reason why some vendors are sticking with 3.x...
