I've used Gnomba, Xsmbrowser and Linneighborhood.  Linneighborhood and
Xsmbrowser are both good.  I like linneighborhood a bit better though. 
Either should work well.

Unfortunately, I'm looking for something comparable to 'Network

Have a look at xfsamba, which is part of xfce3. It's a goody.

Make sure you've got the latest Konqueror before giving up on it.  I've 
got 3.1.2 on my office PC and it both reads and writes just fine to 
anything I have rights to.

I like linneighborhood. It's like My Network Places,
only much better.

Configure LISA and use KDE's Konqueror.  I'm using Stock SuSE and loving it.  The only 
thing I'd like more is the ability to mount the SMB:// connection so my non-kde 
software can use it as part of the OS.  I use smbmount for that one (although 
linneighborhood would do this nicely)
