sometimes. Just open another window
momentarily and then back to the one that wouldn't display. It'll
be there.
I have no idea why. Doesn't happen very often.

That is what I do. From any Linux word processor I print to a file, which
yields a ps file. Then I use ps2pdf. It usually results in what I expect.
I always get good results using klyx, followed by ps2pdf.
