I've got the Acer Aspire 5930 and my problem is that my webcam doesn't
work anymore. I've seen that the cam is a supported device (064e:a117),
so I decided to write to you.
Two years ago, under ubuntu 8.10, the webcam just worked, but in later

You could try luvcview, it can record to an AVI file with the -o switch.
just tried this app: I start it with luvcview -o capture.avi. I can
see my self in the preview window, but nothing is recorded after a
couple of minutes
