Could it be the NIC giving you trouble? It would need to support PXEboot. If so, you would just add a PCI NIC. But the onboard LAN should work fine. Do you need to enable PXEboot in the BIOS? I found it difficult to install Centos from USB key. But a DVD install should work fine.
